KENOSHA, WI – A 67-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting his 68-year-old wife during a confrontation over his personal hygiene.
Michael Navrotsky was arrested on Sunday and charged with battery, strangulation and suffocation, intimidation of a victim, and domestic abuse, according to court records obtained by Law&Crime.
The incident occurred after Kimberly Navrotsky confronted her husband about his hygiene and told him she “did not want him sleeping on her clean sheets” until he took a shower.
The Confrontation
The altercation began when Kimberly Navrotsky told her husband that he had not showered in two months. According to the criminal complaint, she insisted that he clean up before sleeping in their bed, which led to a verbal argument.
As the argument escalated, Michael allegedly approached his wife and, in response to her pushing him away, grabbed her midsection and throat, choking her for about three seconds.
Kimberly Navrotsky told police she asked her husband, “All this over a shower?” when he allegedly punched her three times in the face with a closed fist.
The Violent Assault
Kimberly Navrotsky then noticed that she was “covered in blood.” In her statement to authorities, she said Michael Navrotsky claimed the blood was his, but she later ran to their bedroom to call 911. However, Michael allegedly snatched the phone from her before she could make the call.
The assault continued as he allegedly twisted her left ankle, prompting her to kick him in the groin and flee to a neighbor’s house for help.
At the neighbor’s house, Kimberly called 911, and she was later taken to the hospital for her injuries, which included a broken nose.
Michael’s Statement and Arrest
When police arrived, they questioned Michael Navrotsky, who stated that he and his wife had been arguing about his lack of a shower for three weeks. He claimed that Kimberly attacked him first and that he only “back-handed” her once in self-defense.
However, police noted that Kimberly Navrotsky’s injuries were more consistent with her version of events, and Michael Navrotsky was arrested.
According to the complaint, Kimberly later informed police that her husband had been diagnosed with delusional episodes and early onset dementia, which she believed contributed to his violent outbursts. She also mentioned that he had refused treatment for these conditions.
Charges and Bond
Michael Navrotsky was booked into the Kenosha County Jail and charged with substantial battery, strangulation and suffocation, domestic abuse intimidation of a victim, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. All charges include a modifier for crimes committed against an elderly victim.
Navrotsky is currently being held on $5,000 cash bond, and his next court appearance is set for July 1.
