Kristin Cavallari and Craig Conover are reflecting on their brief romance and the media frenzy that surrounded it.
In the June 25 episode of Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, the Uncommon James founder, 38, opened up about her short-lived romance with Craig Conover, 26, which began in 2021. She explained how it all started during a trip to Charleston with her friend Justin Anderson.
“In 2021, Justin and I went down to Charleston, met the boys, and we just honestly clicked immediately,” she shared. “Then Craig and I started hanging out — only a few times, but it became this whole media frenzy.”
The attention on their relationship grew quickly, with the media speculating about who Kristin was seeing — Craig Conover or Austen Kroll, both stars from Southern Charm. “I was like, I hate them. I hate them so much,” she admitted, frustrated by the speculation.
Media Spotlight and Growing Tension
The drama intensified when Craig Conover joined Summer House, and Kristin’s name became part of the storyline. “When Craig joined Summer House, I magically became part of the storyline, and his then-girlfriend Paige DeSorbo even talked about me on camera,” Kristin said.
“I was really stressed out by the whole thing, feeling like the boys were taking advantage of it and just adding fuel to the fire.”
Kristin explained how this experience changed her perspective. “Once I became a mom, I realized it’s not just me anymore that I have to look out for. I have this tribe that I’m representing,” she shared. “So the Southern Charm boy drama, I really was mad about because it was the first time as a mom that I lived out these scandalous headlines.”
She added, “It definitely made me take a step back and realize that I needed to reel things in a little bit. So ultimately, I guess maybe it was a good thing, because it was kind of a wake-up call.”
Addressing the “Overlap” Rumors with Paige DeSorbo
As she prepared for Craig’s appearance on her podcast tour, Kristin also discussed the rumors about an “overlap” in Craig’s relationship with Paige DeSorbo, his ex-girlfriend. Craig and Paige ended their three-year relationship in December.
“I’ve always assumed there was a little overlap between Paige and I with Craig,” Kristin said. “I’m not really expecting Craig to be like, ‘Yeah, you’re absolutely right. I did lie to you and I lied to Paige.’ I just think it’s kind of fun to give him a hard time about it.”
Surprisingly, Craig addressed the situation during his appearance on stage, saying, “I don’t really think there was as much overlap as everyone thinks.” He added, “I actually am an honest person, like I never lied to you about anything. Eventually, Paige and I decided to date and we stopped talking.”
Kristin responded, “Once I kind of caught wind of Paige, I was like, I’m gonna remove myself from this situation.”
Reflecting on Their Brief Romance
Earlier this month, Kristin talked about her brief romance with Craig on Watch What Happens Live. “Okay, let’s talk about it. So, Craig and I were friends first [and] became romantic for two seconds,” she shared.
When asked about the overlap between their relationships, she recalled seeing a picture of Craig and Paige in New York, which made her realize they were together. “I saw that picture, and I texted him and I said, ‘Hey, let’s just be friends. I don’t wanna get in the middle of this.’”
Kristin and Craig’s candid conversation sheds light on their past and the complexities of their brief romance amidst the public drama. While the media may have made it a bigger story than it was, both have learned valuable lessons, especially Kristin as a mother and public figure.
