In a tragic case of child abuse, three individuals in Ohio will be facing prison sentences for their involvement in a disturbing incident that resulted in a 6-year-old boy being handcuffed, restrained, and attacked by a dog.
The abuse, which left the boy with serious physical injuries, took place in August 2024 at a home in Savannah, Ohio, and has shocked the community.
The Case Against the Abusers
After a four-day trial, Robert Michalski, Jr., the owner of the pit bull that mauled the boy, was convicted on several criminal charges. These charges included multiple counts of complicity in endangering children and tampering with evidence, all of which are felonies. However, he was found not guilty of kidnapping and other charges.
The boy’s mother, Angelina Williams, admitted to her involvement by pleading guilty to kidnapping and several counts of endangering children. Taylor Marvin-Brown, Williams’ partner, also pleaded guilty to charges, including obstructing justice and complicity in the commission of a felony. These charges all stem from the abuse that occurred in Michalski’s home.
The Disturbing Details of the Abuse
According to authorities, the abuse began with the two children being repeatedly restrained using handcuffs and other devices. On August 17, 2024, the abuse escalated when the boy was handcuffed and then attacked by Michalski’s pit bull, which led to serious injuries.
The boy’s injuries were so severe that emergency medical responders had to airlift him to the hospital for treatment.
Deputies arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a child being bitten by a pit bull on the neck and ear. Williams and Marvin-Brown were present at the scene, while Michalski had fled the home with the dog. Authorities later found him hiding in an upstairs crawl space with the dog, which was confiscated and later deemed “vicious” by animal control.
Aftermath and Sentencing
The victims, including the boy and his sister, have since recovered and are now in the care of a legal custodian who is providing them with the necessary support and protection. Prosecutors stated that the abuse had created a “substantial risk” of harm to the children, and they were subjected to “corporal punishment” for a prolonged period.
Michalski is scheduled for sentencing on July 21, 2025, where he could face up to nine years in prison. Williams will be sentenced on June 30, 2025, and Marvin-Brown on July 14, 2025. Both Williams and Marvin-Brown face up to 40 years in prison for their roles in the abuse.
This case highlights the extreme and heart-wrenching nature of child abuse, and serves as a reminder of the need for vigilant child protection efforts in communities everywhere.
