On July 10, 2023, officers from the Pelican Rapids Police Department responded to a call about an unresponsive 3-year-old at a home in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. When authorities arrived, they found the little girl lying on the living room floor. Ali, who was found sitting on the couch, reportedly confessed to the killing. According to the police affidavit, she told officers she had suffocated her daughter by placing her hand over the child’s mouth after she kept crying.
