Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson have once again turned heads on the red carpet, and this time, it’s with a quick kiss that left fans talking.
The two stars, who are co-starring in the upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth, attended the New York premiere on June 23, where they shared an affectionate moment, kissing each other on the lips.
The sweet gesture added some extra buzz to their red carpet appearance, but it was Bailey’s response to the kiss that stole the show.
A Sweet Red Carpet Moment
When asked about the kiss by Entertainment Tonight, Bailey, 37, explained his laid-back and open approach to showing affection. “I believe in being able to show love in all different ways. And if you can’t kiss your friends… life’s too short not to,” he said with a smile.
The actor, known for his role in Bridgerton, shared the kiss with Johansson, 40, who looked stunning in an ivory gown at the event.
Bailey’s outfit included a white scoop-neck t-shirt, a light gray cardigan, and gray trousers, paired with black leather loafers and stylish gold geometric sunglasses.
Johansson, who is married to comedian Colin Jost, wore a form-fitting gown with intricate floral appliques and a chiffon mermaid silhouette, which was cinched at the waist with a corset-style bodice.
A Tradition of Affection
This wasn’t the first time the two stars have shared a sweet moment on the red carpet. At the world premiere in London on June 17, they also shared a brief kiss. Their public displays of affection have sparked some conversations, but it’s clear that both actors are comfortable expressing their friendship and love for one another in their own way.
Bailey’s openness about his sexuality has also been part of the discussion. He has been openly gay throughout his career, and he recently spoke about the challenges and triumphs of being an out actor. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bailey acknowledged the weight of co-headlining a major film as an openly gay actor.
“There’s moments where, yes, you have to be excellent to prove that you can do it,” he shared, reflecting on the history and progress of LGBTQ+ representation in film.
Bailey continued by discussing the fight against prejudice and how he hopes to challenge traditional stereotypes through his roles. “Any sort of sense of prejudice against sexuality is something to fight against, and what better way to do that than to go and play any kind of character,” he added.
