Texas Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Brutal Assault on Pregnant Woman

A Texas man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a violent attack on a pregnant woman in January 2024.

Andrew Gutierrez, 35, was found guilty of severely beating the victim, locking her in his RV, and attacking her while threatening her and her unborn child.

A Night of Violence

The terrifying incident unfolded in Bryan, Texas, after Gutierrez and the victim got into an argument. Following the dispute, Gutierrez locked the woman inside an RV and allegedly said, “Welcome to Hell House” before proceeding with the attack. He began punching, kicking, and kneeing the woman, who was 11 weeks pregnant at the time.

Gutierrez escalated the violence by grabbing a 10-inch kitchen knife, holding it to her neck, and threatening to kill her. Despite her pleas for him to stop, Gutierrez continued the assault until the victim lost consciousness.

Victim’s Desperate Escape

The victim was able to call 911 while Gutierrez was outside disposing of evidence from the scene. Although she briefly disconnected the call, she managed to provide the address before hanging up. When first responders arrived, they found the woman severely beaten, with severe bruising and swelling on her face, stomach, and chest.

In an effort to avoid being caught, Gutierrez reportedly forced the woman to lie about the attack, instructing her to say that two women had assaulted her. However, police quickly determined the truth, collecting evidence, including the knife used in the assault, and arresting Gutierrez.

Prior Conviction and Sentencing

Gutierrez had a history of violence, with a prior conviction in 2016 for “assault family violence continuous,” which led to a five-year prison sentence.

This latest conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon will see Gutierrez serving at least half of his 25-year sentence before he is eligible for parole, according to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office.

Gutierrez’s brutal attack on the pregnant woman has shocked the community, and his actions have led to a lengthy prison sentence. His violent history and the severity of the assault have made it clear that justice for the victim was necessary.

This case highlights the importance of swift action from law enforcement and first responders, who were able to rescue the woman and bring Gutierrez to justice.
