Joe Jonas is teasing a major shift in the Jonas Brothers’ upcoming tour, promising fans an experience unlike anything they’ve seen before.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 35-year-old musician shared exciting details about the band’s highly anticipated Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour, which kicks off on August 10 at MetLife Stadium in their home state of New Jersey.
A New Approach for a Special Milestone
The Jonas Brothers are celebrating a significant milestone this year—their 20th anniversary as a band. Joe explained that the upcoming tour, in support of their new album Greetings from Your Hometown (set to release on August 8), will be different from anything they’ve done in the past.
“What fans can expect is that we are going to do what we can to give them the best show they can possibly enjoy every night,” Joe said. “We really want to have a fun time on the road and just try to bring something different.”
Joe emphasized that the focus would be on creating a unique experience for the fans, blending nostalgia with fresh elements. “We’re going to build a show with our audience,” he said. “We’re rehearsing pretty much onstage and playing some of these older songs that we haven’t played in so many years and see how they respond and what they want to hear.”
A Tour Built with Fans in Mind
Unlike past tours, which were meticulously planned ahead of time, this tour is designed to be more collaborative with the audience. Joe explained that the band would be incorporating fan input as they continue rehearsing, adjusting their setlist to create a more interactive and exciting atmosphere.
“It’s going to be a new dynamic,” he said. “We want our fans to feel like they have a say in the show.”
Fashion for the Heat of Summer
As the tour will kick off in the heat of summer, Joe and his brothers are still figuring out their onstage wardrobe. Despite the scorching temperatures, the band is determined to avoid some fashion choices that are too uncomfortable for the weather.
“We’re in the middle of figuring out what we’re going to wear,” Joe explained. “But we never really dress according to the weather. The stadiums outside, it’s like you don’t even… I think it’s going to be important because we’re going to be sweating through those outfits really fast.”
Joe playfully predicted, “Not much leather—there won’t be a lot of leather being worn.” Though fashion is a key element of their performances, comfort will take priority during this tour.
Celebrating 20 Years of Success
Reflecting on their 20-year journey, Joe expressed gratitude and excitement about continuing to do what he loves. “Twenty years in now, still being able to do what we love for a living and have so many supportive fans and people that show up for these shows… it’s why it keeps us doing what we do,” Joe shared.
“I wake up every morning, [and] I’m ready. I get to do what I love for a living, so I’m happy to keep it going.”
The milestone isn’t just special for Joe. His brother Kevin, 37, also spoke about the emotional significance of the band’s longevity. “It’s just wild to think that we’ve been a part of people’s lives for this long,” Kevin said in a previous interview with PEOPLE.
“But what’s really cool is that it’s still continuing to be new.” Kevin also promised that the setlist would combine old hits with newer tracks, ensuring that both long-time fans and newcomers would be able to enjoy the show.
The Jonas Brothers’ upcoming Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour promises to deliver a fresh experience for fans, blending nostalgia, fan involvement, and a more interactive approach.
With a new album, a collaborative show concept, and the excitement of a 20th anniversary celebration, this tour is set to be a special one for the Jonas Brothers and their fans alike.
