Betts, a New Jersey native, moved to Miami at the age of 10, where his passion for acting was ignited after seeing Laurence Olivier in the 1939 film Wuthering Heights. He later studied theater at the University of Miami and made his professional debut in a Broadway adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard III.

Betts went on to become a prolific actor, starring in a variety of films and TV shows. He gained notable fame for his roles in Italian spaghetti Western films, where he often portrayed the rugged gunslinger.

His work in the genre made him a recognizable face in cinema, but his most famous role was arguably as Henry Balkan in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (2002), where he played a character working at Oscorp Technologies alongside Willem Dafoe’s Norman Osborn, who becomes the Green Goblin.

In addition to his film work, Betts appeared in numerous TV shows, including Seinfeld, Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends, and later My Name Is Earl, Recovery Road, and Good Trouble.
