Kristin Cavallari is setting the record straight about her divorce from ex-husband Jay Cutler. In the June 18 episode of Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, the 38-year-old reality star opened up about the financial details of their split, revealing that she’s never received any money from Cutler following their divorce.

Clearing Up Divorce Speculation

While speaking on her show, Cavallari addressed the common public speculation that her successful brand, Uncommon James, was funded by Cutler. She explained that despite being known as a WAG (Wives and Girlfriends of athletes), her business success is entirely her own.

“Our revenue is close to $50 million a year, but because I was obviously a WAG—if you’re not familiar—people love to say that everything I have in my life is because of my ex-husband, and that my ex-husband funded Uncommon James,” Cavallari shared.

“But I am, to this day, 100% owner, and I’ve never taken any outside funding.”

She added emphatically, “I have never gotten a penny from my ex-husband. I didn’t get any money from our divorce, so let’s just clear that up.”

Reflections on the “WAG” Label

Cavallari also discussed her strong aversion to the term “WAG,” describing it as a time in her life when she felt like she lacked her own identity. “In society, you have to have a man,” she explained.

“Then in the WAG world, you have to have a man, but you’re only supposed to be arm candy and really, you have no identity. Football fans love to diminish me and who I am and [say] I was only famous because of Jay. I’m like, what? Okay. I was on TV.”

Cavallari also expressed her frustration with the double standards placed on women, particularly in regard to their romantic lives.

“Men can be praised for staying single and busting their ass in their career. Women deserve the same thing. We should still all be chasing our dreams, whether we’re with a man or not,” she said.

Higher Standards for Future Relationships

When discussing her love life after her split from Cutler, Cavallari reflected on how her standards for a future partner have evolved. She admitted that dating has become “really f—— hard” since her divorce, as she’s now determined not to settle for anything less than the best.

“I am never gonna settle,” she emphasized. “I am waiting for my perfect.”

In a conversation with her best friend, celebrity colorist Justin Anderson, Cavallari also shared her thoughts on her past relationships. Anderson pointed out that Cavallari has historically been attracted to “really unhealthy guys,” and wondered if she had ever dated someone who wasn’t insecure.

Cavallari responded, “I couldn’t steamroll Jay,” but Anderson jokingly disagreed, claiming, “Yeah, you could, you owned Jay.”

Cavallari clarified, “Yeah, but not in a way where I could do whatever the f— I wanted. It wasn’t like I could just run all over him.”

A New Outlook on Romance

Cavallari also shared her new perspective on relationships since her most recent breakup with internet personality Mark Estes. The couple ended things in September 2024, partly due to their significant age gap. Moving forward, Cavallari expressed that she’s becoming more selective about who she allows into her life.

“It’s gonna take someone really f—— special for me to want to continue to make them a priority and make time for someone,” she confessed. “I want someone who is my rock, who I can really lean on and really trust, because I’ve never experienced that in a relationship.”

Kristin Cavallari’s candid conversation on Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour not only clears up misconceptions about her financial independence but also offers an honest look at her journey of personal growth and the evolution of her standards in relationships.

As she continues to focus on her business and personal well-being, Cavallari’s message is clear: she’s not settling for anything less than what she deserves.
