In a bizarre and unusual case, a Texas woman has been arrested after allegedly marrying her ex-boyfriend without his knowledge.
Kristin Marie Spearman, 36, is facing charges for third-degree felony stalking after she reportedly convinced a local reverend to officiate a wedding ceremony without her ex-boyfriend’s presence or consent.
A Strange Discovery
The incident came to light on June 13, 2025, when the ex-boyfriend of Spearman contacted the Beverly Hills Police Department with a shocking story.
He told authorities that after spending the day away from his house, he returned to find a package from his ex-girlfriend, Kristin Spearman, sitting on his property.
Inside the gift bag from Bath & Body Works, he found more than just body care products — there were two documents that would completely change the course of his life.
One of the documents was a picture of Spearman holding a marriage license that showed them as husband and wife, officiated by a local reverend. The second document was an official marriage certificate, filed with the county clerk’s office, confirming the union.
This revelation left the ex-boyfriend stunned and confused, as he had never been part of any wedding ceremony or agreed to marriage.
The Story Behind the Marriage
According to the ex-boyfriend, he and Spearman had once discussed getting married and had even filled out a marriage license application together. However, after a disagreement, he had made it clear to Spearman that he no longer wished to be in the relationship.
Despite this, Spearman allegedly went ahead and orchestrated the marriage without his knowledge or consent.
Further investigation revealed that Spearman had convinced the reverend to officiate the ceremony in their “Holy Union of Matrimony” without the ex-boyfriend’s required presence. Spearman then took the signed marriage license to the county clerk’s office, where it was officially filed.
Authorities believe that Spearman, as part of her ongoing plan, created the Bath & Body Works gift bag, included the marriage documents, and left it on her ex-boyfriend’s property, essentially delivering the shocking news in an unexpected manner.
The Revered Marriage Ceremony
The reverend who allegedly officiated the one-sided wedding has not been publicly identified to protect them from potential harassment or influence during the ongoing investigation.
The case has raised questions about how such a ceremony could be conducted without both parties present, and the police are continuing their investigation into the unusual and unlawful union.
Beverly Hills Police Chief Kory Martin, who has been in law enforcement for over two decades, stated that he had never encountered a case like this before.
“I don’t think in 23 years I’ve ever heard of anybody who managed somehow to get married to someone who wasn’t present for a ceremony,” he said. “This is a whole [different] situation.”
Charges and Legal Consequences
Kristin Marie Spearman was arrested and transported to the McLennan County Jail, where she was processed. She has since been released from custody, but she faces charges related to the alleged stalking and unauthorized marriage.
The case remains under investigation, and more details could emerge as authorities continue to look into the matter.
Kristin Spearman’s actions have created an incredibly unusual legal situation. Marrying someone without their knowledge or consent is not only strange but also illegal.
As this case continues to unfold, it highlights how far some individuals might go to manipulate situations for personal gain. The ex-boyfriend now faces the difficult task of rectifying this one-sided marriage, while Spearman faces legal consequences for her actions.
