A Louisiana woman, Subrina Honore, is facing serious charges after allegedly orchestrating the shooting death of her ex-boyfriend, Jonathan Brookin, 32. Brookin, a father of five, was fatally shot during a confrontation with Honore and two men she is accused of recruiting for the murder.
The case has captured public attention due to the disturbing details surrounding the altercation, which started with a heated argument about the paternity of a child.
Argument Over Baby Paternity Leads to Deadly Confrontation
On January 27, Brookin was at the home of a female friend, along with her two young children, when Honore arrived, reportedly angry about the paternity of her baby.
Honore had previously claimed that Brookin was the father, and the situation escalated when she allegedly confronted him about a birth certificate related to the child.
According to court records, Honore had made threatening posts on social media, including one just before the shooting that read, “I got time today, [expletive]. I’m coming to your house.”
The Deadly Encounter
During the confrontation, Brookin was reportedly in the garage when Honore showed up with two men, including Arthur Thomas, 31.
The woman who was hosting Brookin in her home told police that she heard the argument between the two women, and at some point, she saw the two men get out of a car with guns. Fearing for her safety, the woman quickly ran inside to hide with her children.
After the gunfire erupted, Brookin was found lying on the ground, bleeding. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later determined that shots were fired by three different individuals.
Investigators believe that Brookin fired his rifle in self-defense before he was fatally shot in the head. Honore allegedly told police that Brookin had fired first, but evidence pointed to her role in orchestrating the deadly encounter.
Honore and Accomplices Arrested
Honore, along with Arthur Thomas, was arrested the day after the shooting and charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Jatary Joseph, 32, and Jjaun Jasmin, 34, who were also charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
Authorities believe that Honore had reached out to Thomas and the other men to help her confront Brookin about the birth certificate, which ultimately led to the deadly shooting.
