A tragic incident unfolded in Nashville, Tennessee, when an Iowa man allegedly opened fire on his girlfriend and her five children after a domestic dispute.

According to police, Smith threw the woman’s phone out of the window of the van and tried to grab the steering wheel. The woman managed to pull over on a suburban road in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, but Smith allegedly opened fire, shooting her multiple times. He has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated burglary. Smith is currently being held at the Downtown Detention Center in Nashville, with a bond set at $2.6 million.
