Denise Nicole Malcolm, 46, of Coral Springs, Florida, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 2024 shooting death of her husband, Rohan Noel Malcolm, 52.
The murder occurred after an argument about his ongoing infidelity and his announcement that he was leaving the family to spend time with “friends.”
The Tragic Incident
On August 31, 2024, Denise and Rohan Malcolm had a heated argument after he claimed he was going out with friends following a grocery trip for a Labor Day barbecue.
According to police reports, Denise had been aware of her husband’s unfaithfulness for nearly two years, and she no longer trusted him.
The argument escalated, and Denise, who suspected that his “friends” referred to another woman, shot him multiple times. The couple’s 14-year-old son called 911 after hearing loud bangs while listening to music. The boy then ran to find his father wounded, with his mother holding the gun.
A Disturbing Final Act
After police arrived at the scene, Denise fired a final shot, which ultimately killed her husband. She later explained that she was contemplating suicide but decided against it after a comment from her husband before his death.
Denise Malcolm, who had been estranged from her husband, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The shooting occurred in front of their children, with their son and twin boys witnessing the tragic incident.
Plea Agreement and Sentencing
As part of her plea agreement, Denise Malcolm will spend 21 years in prison for the murder, along with an additional two years for placing her husband in a dangerous situation.
She is also required to pay restitution to her children’s guardian, totaling $23,500, with further restitution amounts to be determined.
This tragic case sheds light on the emotional toll that infidelity and deceit can take on relationships and the devastating consequences that can arise from unresolved conflicts.
