Roads that are known for flash flooding, such as U.S. 36 near Chillicothe and I-70 through Kansas City, may become difficult or impossible to drive on during heavy rain. Low-lying neighborhoods in cities like St. Joseph, Liberty, and Brookfield are especially vulnerable as water quickly builds up in creeks and drainage systems.
