Several popular amusement parks in Pennsylvania, including Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, are now under new ownership.

Herschend, a leading name in family entertainment, has acquired all of Palace Entertainment’s U.S. properties from Parques Reunidos.

This deal includes more than 20 historic attractions and amusement parks, such as the iconic Kennywood in Pittsburgh and Lake Compounce in Connecticut.

According to both companies, this move supports Herschend’s strategy to grow its footprint in the U.S. market, while Parques Reunidos shifts its focus to Europe.

Herschend CEO Andrew Wexler said this marks a major step in the company’s 75-year legacy of creating family memories. He emphasized the company’s goal to expand wisely while staying true to its values.

“We’re excited to welcome these properties into the Herschend family,” Wexler said. “Their teams have built beloved community destinations. We aim to grow with them and continue delivering amazing guest experiences.”

Herschend also confirmed there will be no immediate changes to park operations. Visitors and employees can expect a smooth transition.

The company began in 1950 with cave tours in the Ozark Mountains. It now employs over 12,000 people and serves more than 15 million guests each year across North America.

This acquisition promises a bright future for some of Pennsylvania’s most cherished amusement parks
