Kourtney Kardashian Barker is addressing the backlash after sharing a photo of her 21-month-old son, Rocky Thirteen, on a boat without a life vest.
The Lemme founder, 46, posted the image on Instagram on Friday, Aug. 8, featuring her son on a boat. However, the absence of a life vest on her child sparked concern from fans, with many expressing their worries about the safety hazard.
Addressing the Backlash
The day after posting the photo, Kardashian Barker responded to the criticism through her Instagram Stories. “Update: bought a life vest that fits!” she wrote over a screenshot of an infant life vest. “Good looking out. Honestly didn’t think about some of the dangers,” she continued, acknowledging her mistake.
She thanked her followers for pointing out the issue, adding, “Thank you for making me aware and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest.”
Safety Regulations in Idaho
Kardashian Barker’s post included photos suggesting the family was in Idaho, where state law requires children aged 14 and younger to wear a life vest while on a boat.
The legal requirement drew additional attention to her oversight, as fans voiced concerns on social media about the potential risk to her son.
One Instagram user commented, “Great photo except for the fact the child has no life jacket on,” while another person on Reddit expressed, “Rocky should be wearing a life jacket. Such dangerous neglect.”

In a follow-up post on her Instagram Stories, Kardashian Barker shared the same image of herself and Rocky, but this time, she highlighted World Breastfeeding Week. “Blessed and grateful for this beautiful life and experience together with my baby,” she wrote alongside the photo.
