In a deeply emotional turn of events, Savannah Blackstock Lee, daughter of Brandon Blackstock, shared the joyful news of her pregnancy just one month before her father’s passing.
The 23-year-old realtor from Florida had been looking forward to growing her family—unaware of the heartbreaking loss that would follow shortly after.
A Joyful Announcement Before the Storm
On July 5, Savannah took to Instagram to reveal a beautiful update about her life. She shared that she and her husband were expecting a baby girl due in January 2026. The couple already share a 3-year-old son named Lake.
In her heartfelt post, which is now private, Savannah wrote, “We’ve been keeping a couple sweet surprises. One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family.”
She ended her announcement with a touching message of faith, saying, “He’s written a story we never could’ve imagined, and His kindness in this season has left us in awe. He’s answered prayers we never even knew how to pray.
This journey has been so special, full of peace, excitement, and so much grace. We’re growing again, and our hearts are so full. Thank you, Jesus.”
A Close-Knit Family Hit by Loss
Brandon Blackstock, a well-known talent manager, was a father of four. He shared Savannah and his son Seth with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth, whom he was married to from 2001 to 2012.
Later, Brandon married singer Kelly Clarkson. Together, they had two children—daughter River in 2014 and son Remington in 2016. Though the couple separated in June 2020, and finalized their divorce in March 2022, they remained connected through their children.
The Heartbreaking Announcement
On August 7, Brandon’s death was confirmed by a family representative, who revealed that he had been quietly battling cancer for more than three years.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the rep told PEOPLE. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
Clarkson’s Quiet Strength
Just a day before the public announcement, Kelly Clarkson suddenly postponed her Las Vegas residency, explaining that she needed to be fully present for her children while their father was unwell.
She thanked her fans for their “grace, kindness and understanding,” without revealing the full situation. A source later told PEOPLE that Clarkson was “devastated” by Brandon’s death, especially thinking about their children.
“When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,” the insider said. “Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She’s been devastated for the kids.”
Savannah Blackstock’s pregnancy announcement and Brandon’s untimely passing have added a bittersweet layer to an already emotional time for the family. While one chapter of life begins for Savannah with the coming of her daughter, another closed too soon with the loss of her father.
In moments like these, the strength of family and the support of faith become even more powerful. As the Blackstock and Clarkson families grieve, they also prepare to welcome new life with hope and love.
