A 24-year-old woman, Kimora Launmei Hodges, has been convicted of murder in the 2022 death of a 23-month-old boy, Kyrie Starks, whom she was babysitting in Roseville, Michigan.
On Thursday, a Macomb County jury found Hodges guilty of the fatal attack, which occurred when she threw the toddler into a wall, causing severe head trauma.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The tragedy unfolded on June 22, 2022, when Kyrie Starks was admitted to the hospital with blunt force trauma to the head. The boy’s mother had dropped him off at Hodges’ home for regular babysitting. However, after receiving a call from Hodges, the mother rushed to the home, where she found her son seizing uncontrollably.
Hodges initially claimed that the child’s condition was due to an allergic reaction from “eating soap”. This explanation was accepted by the mother at first, but when the medical staff provided a clearer picture of the extent of the boy’s injuries, the truth began to emerge.
The victim was found to have suffered severe brain injuries and bleeding from his ears.
