Ann-Margret has given her approval for Lindsay Lohan to play her in a potential biopic!
This exciting news came after Jamie Lee Curtis, Lohan’s costar, pitched the idea on Good Morning America. Curtis, 66, shared her thoughts on July 28, saying, “I want her Lohan to do the Ann-Margret story,” while promoting their movie Freakier Friday. She added that she regularly sends Lohan videos of Ann-Margret from back in the day.
Ann-Margret, now 84, later shared her thoughts on the possibility of Lohan portraying her. In an interview with IndieWire, she said, “I adore her. I think she’s full of talent,” and expressed her excitement to see what the filmmakers could come up with for the project.
Curtis’s idea of Lohan playing Ann-Margret isn’t new. In November 2024, Lohan confirmed she was working on the biopic when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
When Cohen asked if she was working on the project, Lohan excitedly replied, “We’re working on the story. It’s exciting.” She also mentioned that the biopic had to be done in a way that would truly honor Ann-Margret.
Lohan is no stranger to portraying famous actresses, as she previously played Elizabeth Taylor in the 2012 TV movie Liz & Dick. She has expressed that she wants to do Ann-Margret justice in the same way.
In March 2024, she told Bustle, “She’s a triple threat, and she’s an amazing woman on top of that. So I just really want to do her justice and help tell a great story for her.”
Right now, Lohan is preparing for the release of Freakier Friday, the sequel to the popular 2003 film Freaky Friday, where she stars alongside Jamie Lee Curtis as a mother and daughter who switch bodies. The movie will hit theaters on August 8.
Lohan and Curtis have developed a strong friendship throughout their time working together, with Curtis telling PEOPLE, “We connected, and we really stayed connected. And that is special and rare for me.”
