McDonald’s Employee Charged with Murder After Stabbing Manager 15 Times in Heated Dispute

Eastpointe, Michigan – A 26-year-old McDonald’s employee, Afeni Badu Muhammad, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her 39-year-old manager, Jennifer Harris, in a violent confrontation at a Michigan McDonald’s.

Incident Details

The fatal stabbing occurred on the morning of July 10, 2025, at a McDonald’s located in the 17000 block of 9 Mile Road, Eastpointe, Michigan. The incident began with an argument between Muhammad and Harris, after which the manager reportedly sent Muhammad home early.

Shortly afterward, Muhammad allegedly returned to the restaurant armed with a long knife, entering through the back entrance wearing a hooded mask. She proceeded to stab Harris multiple times, causing severe injuries that led to Harris’ death later that day.

Attempted Intervention

A customer at the drive-thru witnessed the attack and, in an attempt to stop the stabbing, fired a gunshot into the air. Muhammad attempted to flee the scene, but the customer gave chase and detained her until the police arrived shortly afterward.

Police and Prosecutor’s Statements

Upon her arrest, Muhammad reportedly confessed to the murder, stating that she had intended to kill Harris. She explained that after being sent home, she drove to a nearby park, retrieved a knife from her car, and returned to stab Harris.

During her arraignment, assistant prosecutor Hengeveld described the attack: “Muhammad used a knife longer than three inches and stabbed the victim up to 15 times, ultimately causing her death.”

Authorities confirmed Muhammad’s prior criminal history, as she had previously been convicted for a separate stabbing incident and had received a suspended sentence along with one year of probation.

Prior Complaints and Instagram Video

In the days leading up to the stabbing, Muhammad posted videos on her Instagram where she vented about workplace issues. In a July 8 video, Muhammad, wearing her McDonald’s uniform, accused Harris of being a bully and disrespectful.

She claimed that Harris had sent her home early multiple times and had belittled her, despite Muhammad maintaining that she was merely trying to create peace at work.

Legal Proceedings

Muhammad was charged with first-degree murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and being a habitual offender. She was denied bail and is currently being held on $25 million bond. A mental competency evaluation has been ordered, with a Sept. 3 hearing scheduled to review the findings.

The Victim’s Legacy

Jennifer Harris, the victim, is remembered by her loved ones for her role as a dedicated mother and professional. Family members and colleagues have expressed grief over her untimely death, with many describing her as a hardworking individual who, unfortunately, became a victim of workplace conflict gone tragically wrong.
